The «Denti della Vecchia» are popular with climbers, but they also make for a great hike. We did this in February and had to cross some patches of snow (bring your Grödel and sticks!), but the perks were being almost alone on the entire hike – it gets very busy in summer!

It’s not a hike for the faint-hearted; expect steep drops and a little scramble here and there. But the views… oh my! And you get to sneak into Italy for a few metres here and there…

You may choose to have lunch at Capanna Pairolo or Alpe Bolla during the summer season, but we were very happy to enjoy a picknick between the «Denti» and take in the views.

It’s not necessary to do the whole loop, especially if you travel by public transport. We parked our car in Cimadera (free parking at the end of the village), but it has a bus stop, and so do most of the villages and hamlets along the valley.
